How do I write chord progressions and riffs for new songs on guitar?
I’ve been playing for about five months but I’ve never written a good song. All I ever do is just a take on another song in a different key or something. How can I find new ways to write songs?
If you’re referring to writing music notation it can be a tedius undertaking, but a joyful one upon completion. If you have not taken such a challenge in the past, consider doing it now with the music sheets and a #2 pencil.
It may not be necessary to write out the notes of the chord progressions unless you want to go full bore with the composition. Know what chords can be used in any key signature, experiment a bit by throwing in chords you would ordinarilly not do, and make your selections.
