Silly Love Song
What were your opinions on Paul McCartney/Wings’s “Silly Love Songs”?
I’m not a huge McCartney fan but I’m actually starting to like “Silly Love Songs” a lot now and I love the bass thumping all throughout the song.
1. It is probably his most meaningless song of his entire career
2. It actually works because it is meaningless– that’s the whole point of the song (so maybe it isn’t completely meaningless after all?)
3. It was considered kinda “disco” at the time, and wasn’t especially beloved by Beatle/Macca fans, but since it was released at the same time as his first world tour, it sold well.
4. Whenever I make a McCartney best-of disc, I almost always leave it out.
5. I dislike it less now than when it was new.
6. The song was a hit, so if you like it, you’re not alone. I liked McCartney better when he tried to rock a little.
